On Veterans Day, students in grades 3-5 and 6-8 met U.S. Army Veteran, Michael Crosby, and U.S. Navy Veteran, Alex Polivy. Michael and Alex told stories from their deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, and Japan, explaining the importance of their unique jobs.
For Michael that included ‘fast roping’ out of helicopters, rucking (carrying heavy gear) across far distances, and sleeping in holes to do reconnaissance work. For Alex that included operating heavy equipment, delivering goods, and building bridges, water wells, schools, and hospitals for people in need.
Rashi students learned about the shared sacrifices: putting their lives in danger and spending many months away from the people, places, holidays, foods, sports, and life they loved. The auditorium was full of thoughtful questions and inspired learners.
